From 30 September to 2 October 2026, Rotterdam will host the AI Hype, Hope and Humanity (AI HHH) Festival — three days exploring how artificial intelligence is shaping society today, and how responsible AI futures can be built together. The festival is organised by the network of ELSA Labs in the Netherlands, in collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam’s research initiatives, and is supported by NWO. Participation is free and open to all, with no technical background required.

DECIDE’s contribution

As part of the festival programme, Dr. Vivian Chen contributes to a roundtable titled “Democratising AI: Expert Control vs. Citizen and Employee Voice.” The session brings together public authorities, companies, startups, and scholars to discuss participatory models, consultation, and co-creation versus expert-led, data-driven decision-making — a discussion directly connected to DECIDE’s mission of empowering citizens as co-designers of transparent AI-Citizen Support Systems (AI-CSS).
